Ohio University Student Dies Over Weekend

Athens Police say they are investigating the death of a first-year Ohio University student.
Police have identified the student as 18-year-old Collin Wiant of Dublin, Ohio. According to APD, they received at 2:49 a.m. Monday morning about an unresponsive male at 45 Mill Street. Wiant was transported by EMS to the hospital where was later pronounced dead.
Ohio University says the Dean of Students has been in contact with Wiant’s family and is providing support to students and employees affected by his passing.
APD says the investigation is ongoing and will release further information “as appropriate and in coordination with” the Athens County Coroner.
Ohio University says a first-year student died over the weekend.
The university identified the student as Collin Wiant.
In a statement, university officials say the Dean of Students has been in contact with Wiant’s family and is providing support to students and employees affected by his passing.
