The Federal Hocking Lady Lancers cruised to a 55-23 win over the Southern Lady Tornadoes Thursday night.

In the first half, the Lady Lancers held a commanding 25-11 lead with their fast pace offense and smothering press defense. There was not much that could stop the Lady Lancers this evening, despite starting the season off 0-2.

The Lady Lancers would go on to win by a final score of 55-23.

In the first half, Kylie Tabler was able to put up 10 of the Lady Lancers 25 points, leading the game in scoring with 13 points overall.

Paige Tolson had a big game from the free throw line, shooting 6-9 (66%) from the stripe.

Closing in the late second half, the Lady Tornadoes’ Phoenix Cleland went on a scoring spree, scoring eight of the teams 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Federal Hocking had a tough loss to Alexander earlier this week. Trying to build off of the loss, Coach Jeremy Tolson said, “We wanted to get up-tempo. We worked on our presses and were really trying to get out early…We really tried to work on our patience and really tried to work the ball as much as we could.”

The Lady Lancers are also trying to cope with the loss of Tamika Mayle, who suffered a what could be season-ending injury earlier in the year.

“Hannah Rose, a freshman, has stepped into the starting spot and really done well with the speed of the game,” Coach Tolson said. “She played really well tonight and is really starting to come together.”

On Monday night, Federal Hocking will host the South Gallia Lady Rebels at 7:30 p.m.
