WLCI and Blackout Booking Open Up Semester With Stacked Jan. 19 Show
< < Back to wlci-and-blackout-booking-open-up-semester-with-stacked-jan-19-showWLCI Hocking College Radio and Blackout Booking have assembled an eclectic lineup for their first major show of the spring 2019 semester on Saturday, January 19 at The Union.
Headliners Mourning [A] BLKstar hail from Cleveland, and will bring with them the breath-taking, hyper-emotive, genre-defying music from their most recent release, The Garner Poems. Athens’ own Water Witches will summon their trademark weirdo, witchy rock ‘n’ roll; and Columbus’ Bloody Show will showcase their visceral punk rock stylings, making up quite the duo of opening acts for the Saturday night show.
WOUB had the chance to chat with Water Witches before the show. Check out our Q&A below.
WOUB: What’s new with Water Witches? I haven’t checked in on you all since 2016!
Water Witches: We’re still making noise in the greater midwest. We’re heading in to the studio with Eddie Ashworth next month to record an EP, and really looking forward to that. We have two shows this weekend, Friday night at Cafe Bourbon Street and of course Saturday night at the Union. We’re also playing February 8 at the Union with STEMS and King Buu coming to town.
WOUB: What will 2019 bring for the band?
WW: We’re definitely excited for our upcoming EP. In April we will be back in Columbus for a super awesome album release at Ace of Cups (that we can’t disclose too many details on quite yet). We’re also playing Northside Festival in Cincinnati in May, and hope to get in to a few other festivals this summer.
WOUB: Do you have any words on performing at The Union Saturday? What a cool line up the show has!
WW: Saturday is really looking like it’s going to be something special with Mourning (A) BLKstar and Bloody Show coming to town. Definitely not one to sleep on.
