< < Back to ohio-womens-basketball-bobcats-pick-up-huge-road-win-at-central-michiganMOUNT PLEASANT, Michigan – Ohio led by as many as 19 points in the second half, but Reyna Frost made a lay-up that brought the Chippewas within two points with 4:49 left, bringing crowd at McGuirk Arena back in the game. However, Ohio quickly took back the momentum as CeCe Hooks made a lay-up of her own about 25 seconds later and shortly after, Amani Burke hit a three-pointer to make it a 74-68 game, guiding the Bobcats to arguably their biggest win of the season.
Ohio (20-2, 9-2 MAC) led for the entire game and defeated Central Michigan (16-6, 7-3 MAC), 78-75, avenging an 18-point loss to the Chippewas earlier in the season.
CeCe Hooks paced the Bobcats with 28 points and eight rebounds. Four other players also reached double-figure point totals for Ohio – Erica Johnson (14), Gabby Burris (13), Amani Burke (11), and Dominique Doseck (10). The Bobcats shot 41 percent from the field and were 10-of-30 from three.
Defensively, the Bobcats and Chippewas each had 42 rebounds. Ohio held Central Michigan to just 5-of-22 from three and 42 percent on field goals.
The Bobcats held a 45-33 lead at the half behind Hooks’ 14 points.
After an Erica Johnson free throw made it a 19-point game about midway through the third quarter, it seemed like the Bobcats would cruise to a big victory.
However, Central Michigan stormed back and went on a 13-0 run to make things interesting in the final minutes, but Ohio made key shots and escaped with the win.
The win gave the Bobcats only their second win in Mount Pleasant in their last 26 games. Also, the Chippewas lost back-to-back home conference games for the first time since 2015.
Ohio has now won 20 games for the fourth time in Bob Boldon’s six-year tenure.
The Bobcats seek their 21st win on Wednesday when they travel to Toledo. Tip-off is at 7 p.m
