It was a slow start to the game for the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers offense. But they eventually picked it up and came out firing on all cylinders.

“We really came out and put the pressure on them tonight,” said head coach of the Lady Lancers, Jeremy Tolson, talking about the offense. “That just shows how aggressive we have to be and felt like we did a really good job tonight.”

Federal Hocking’s pressure forced the Symmes Valley Vikings to make mistakes throughout the whole game and from then on, the Lady Lancers seemed to convert every opportunity they had.

Federal Hocking won by 30 points, with a final score of 62-32 against the Lady Vikings.

For the Lady Lancers, Emma Beha lead the way by putting up a double-double. Beha had 10 points and a whopping nine rebounds to go along with it.

The offense kept rolling in the second half thanks to the offensive efforts of Paige Tolson and Kylie Tabler. Tabler finished the game with 15 points and Tolson finished with another 15 points to put their offensive totals at 30 points for the two alone.

For Symmes Valley, Jenna Malone and Kylie Deer tried to keep the team on their feet in the second half. Malone finished with 12 points and added two assists to her totals. Deer made it rain from outside the arc and knocked down four 3-pointers and put her offensive totals at 14 points and two steals.

After the game, Tolson talked to us about how his team needs to prepare looking forward into the tournament.

“I’ve been preaching fundamentals and just really working the offense,” Tolson said. “When our big three all play well together, usually everything else falls into place for us.”

The Lady Lancers next tournament match-up will take place next Thursday, Feb. 22, against Portsmouth Notre Dame at 6:15 p.m.
