Bo Myers Scores Career-High 37 in Rout of Athens
< < Back toA whole team effort on any given night will give your team a good chance to win most of the time. However, when one player has it going on one of the best teams in the state of Ohio, then it might be difficult to take the win.
Bo Myers for the Logan Chieftains put on a show on this Friday night, scoring a career high 37 points with 10 rebounds, as the Chieftains took apart the Athens Bulldogs (16-5, 9-1 TVC-Ohio) with a final score of 71-46.
The Chieftains took control of the game right out of the gate, going on a 16-4 run. After a little run by Athens, Logan finished the quarter on a little tear to end the first quarter up 21-10, with Myers scoring 14 first quarter points.
One story of the game for the Bulldogs was senior guard Elijah Williams, who went down with a knee injury with 4:12 left in the second quarter and he did not return. With the playoffs around the corner, his absence could be detrimental to a team looking to make a deep run.
With Bo Meyers having his double-double secured at halftime, the Chieftains didn’t let off the gas coming out of the locker room. Athens trailed by more than 30 points at one point in the third quarter.
Isaiah Butcher, Eli Chubb and Justin Hines combined to score 26 of the teams 46 points. Though it was not very close from the beginning, the Bulldogs fought back to cut the lead to 15 heading into the half, but they just couldn’t stop the huge night from Bo Myers.
Athens had trouble all night long keeping Logan off the offensive glass, as the Chieftain pulled in 12 offensive rebounds, giving them second chance opportunities. The Bulldogs also couldn’t connect on a three pointer all night, going 0-9 from downtown.
After this one, the Bulldogs will look to rebound tomorrow when they are back on their home floor when they take on the Jackson Ironmen.
