POMEROY, Ohio (WOUB) — Authorities in Meigs County are searching for a woman accused in the shooting death of another woman Wednesday evening.
Tammy Neace, 45, of Meigs County, faces a charge of aggravated murder after allegedly shooting and killing Kelli Marking, 42, of Pomeroy.
A child visitation exchange was set to take place Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m. on Osbourne Street in Pomeroy between the parents of a young child, according to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office. When Markins, the paternal grandmother, and the child’s father arrived for the exchange, Neace, the maternal grandmother, allegedly opened fire on them.
Markins was struck multiple times and was transported to Holzer Meigs Emergency Department, where she later died.
Neace is believed to be in a white 2001 Hyundai Accent four door with Ohio license plate number FIX8138. She is not believed to be in the Pomeroy area anymore and there is no immediate threat to resident in that area.
She is, however, considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, according to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Neace is asked to contact Sgt. Frank Stewart at the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office at 740-992-3371 or local law enforcement.
