< < Back toEvery weekend local music geeks unite to provide the region with 11 hours of creatively curated tunes on WOUB 1340AM, an endeavor that is known commonly as Radio Free Athens! Typically the program runs from 9 a.m. EST to 8 p.m. EST every Saturday, and can also be heard through this link.

I have nothing really planned for this weekend’s show. Probably get to some Neville Brothers in memory of Art Neville. I also plan on playing some John Prine with hopes of him getting well soon. Billy Strings is playing the Pike County Fair on Wednesday so I will get to some of his material too. Join me from 9 to 12.

Some of my best friends and also most esteemed professional colleagues will be in attendance/covering the Lizzo show in Cincinnati this Friday evening. Have you heard of Lizzo? She’s single-handedly saving pop music from phonies and fakes, just FYI. Remember when Robin Thicke used that great Marvin Gaye riff in that giant hit that was ultimately about sexual assault a few years ago? You can hear a much more artful use of that incredible sample in Lizzo’s “Boys,” which can be enjoyed entirely guilt-free! Tune into 1340AM tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for more new discoveries and a few old favorites.
