Ohio: $31M to Aid Families of Children with Behavioral Needs

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The state says it will provide $31 million in new funding to support families of Ohio children with behavioral needs who need help from multiple systems.
The funding for fiscal year 2020 includes $8 million in direct aid to help parents avoid having to surrender custody of their children to get them needed treatment and services. Families can now apply through their county Ohio Family and Children First Council for that aid to cover costs associated with their children’s care.
Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s statement says the state will invest a total of $68 million over the next two years. The money will be used to prevent custody relinquishment, fund services for some of Ohio’s most in-need children and modernize ways of caring for children who require multiple-system support.
