ATHENS, OH — And now Ohio must play the waiting game to see if they will get a bid to a bowl game. We talked to the coaches and players after the game, and they certainly hope that they get one more chance to suit up in 2019.

“I think in terms of bowls looking at us, I think we have an exciting offense and we’ve proved that at previous bowl games,” Ohio football head coach Frank Solich said. “The defense is starting to play really strong. And we have excellent special teams play. But it’s certainly not in any of our hands here at Ohio University But we are looking forward to what happens.”

“I never really looked at this one as the last game,” Ohio football quarterback Nathan Rourke said. “I didn’t want to go in with that mindset knowing that there could be another game. I’m going to be optimistic until we find out that it isn’t going to happen. But at this point we made a pretty good case for ourselves.”

Ohio hopes to get the chance to win a bowl game for the third straight year.

“Everyone in the program would love to play another game,” Solich said. “I know the kind of effort that they would take to the bowl cite and what they would be all about. We will really represent Ohio and the MAC very strongly.”

“It’s been a pleasure to play for Ohio,” Rourke said. “I’m thankful for the opportunities that they have given me. It’s just been a great group to play with and I would love to be able to get one more shot out there. Bowl experiences are really fun. I’ve been lucky enough to go to two of them and I would love to make it three.”

This Ohio group is hungry for last challenge to close out the season.

“ I love this football team,” Solich said. “They can play great football and I would be glad to take them anywhere and play anybody. They’re an excellent group of guys.”

Solich and Ohio will be certainly ready at a moments notice as they await their bowl fate.
