In a statement shared by the Ohio Republican Party, the 57-year-old Kennedy noted she has worked in the justice system for over three decades, including as a police officer and magistrate in Butler County.
She was elected to the state’s high court in 2012 to fill an unexpired term, then won a full six-year term in 2014.
Republicans hold five of the court’s seven seats.
Two Democrats hoping to swing that balance already announced bids for 2020: Cleveland-area Judge John O’Donnell and former Ohio secretary of state Jennifer Brunner.
