After three quarters on Sunday, it looked like Ohio would drop a third Power Five opponent.  The Bobcats led 63-54 against TCU and had momentum after Katie Barker drained a three just before the quarter ended.  The offense was running smoothly, shooting over 50 percent after three quarters.

It takes four quarters to decide the winner in a basketball game though and TCU took advantage of the Bobcats’ mistakes in the final quarter.  The Horned Frogs forced eight Ohio turnovers and scored seven points off those turnovers in the fourth quarter.  The Bobcats’ offense went cold, only shooting 3-of-13, including 1-of-10 from three.

Despite the struggles, Ohio was in the game for most of the fourth quarter.  With the Bobcats down 75-72 with 20 seconds left, Barker missed a three-pointer, TCU grabbed the rebound and iced the game with free throws.

Ohio (6-3) just missed knocking off Big 12 opponent TCU (8-1) on the road with a 79-72 loss.

The Bobcats’ offense finished the day shooting 49 percent from the field, including ten three-pointers.

With Erica Johnson unavailable due to injury, Ohio still had four starters reach double figure point totals.  Amani Burke led the charge with 26 points and CeCe Hooks added 15 points.  Barker totaled 12 points, all coming off three-point baskets.  Gabby Burris finished the day with 11 points.  All four saw at least 34 minutes of playing time.

Ohio’s fifth starter was Caitlyn Kroll, who was making her first start for the Bobcats.  Kroll finished with six points and five rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

The five Ohio starters combined for 70 of the Bobcats’ 72 points.  Deesh Beck accounted for Ohio’s two bench points.

The Bobcats don’t have to wait long for another shot against a Power Five opponent.  Ohio faces Texas, another Big 12 team, on Wednesday night.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
