Update: Two Suspects Apprehended in Connection with Athens Shooting

Athens Police say two suspects have been apprehended in West Virginia in connection with the shooting death of Floyd Lester Hart, 37.

Police say Dylan Secoy, 26, and Rachael Povosky, 18, were arrested by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office. Secoy is charged with murder. Povosky is charged with complicity to murder. The suspects are being extradited to Athens County.


Athens Police are searching for the suspect in an early morning shooting on the city’s west side.

According to a media release, police are looking for Dylan Secoy, 26,  of Albany, Ohio in connection with the early morning shooting on W. Washington. Anyone with information on Secoy should call Athens Police. Police say Secoy should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting area of 117 W. Washington just after 5 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrived to find Floyd Lester Hart, 37, of Athens with a gunshot wound. Hart was transported to O’Bleness Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Athens Police incorrectly identified the victim as Floyd Victor Hart. His name is Floyd Lester Hart. The story has been corrected.
