Lady Eagles Send Off Lone Senior With a Win

Eastern had a hard-fought battle on their hands in order to get the victory over Wahama 54-30, and gave the Lady Eagles only senior, Jaymie Basham, a victory to cap-off her memorable night.
After a tight first quarter Eastern knew they had to focus as they were down 9-8. As they bounced ahead in the second quarter and the lady Eagles wouldn’t look back as they led 21-17 at halftime.
Eastern’s second half defense was in full effect as Wahama was held scoreless in the opening four minutes and 40 seconds of the third quarter. This allowed the Lady Eagles to open their lead to 11 points.
The Lady White Falcons went on an 8-0 run early in the fourth to give Wahama a fighting chance.
Ultimately the Lady Eagle’s grinded it out in the rest of the fourth quarter to take down the Wahama Lady White Falcons by 24 points.
As the final buzzer sounded, Eastern senior Jaymie Basham walked off the court with the student section on their feet, holding up signs honoring Basham. Basham put on a show for her fans as she scored 14 points for the Lady Eagles.
“It’s the best game Jaymie has played, she did a great job tonight and we’re really proud of her,” Eastern head coach Chuck Robinson said.
Moving forward for Eastern, on Saturday the Lady Eagles will face-off against Federal Hocking in a makeup from their cancelled game on Jan. 30.
Robinson said preparation for playoffs start on Monday to prep for the first-round taking place on Thursday as they take on Oak Hill at Jackson High School at 8 p.m.
