WOUB is committed to providing critical news and information to region

ATHENS, OH – In these uncertain and constantly-changing times, WOUB Public Media will be broadcasting Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s daily coronavirus update news conference on both radio and television until further notice.  The news conference, which is typically held at 2 p.m. each day will air on WOUB FM (WOUB Athens – 91.3, WOUC, Cambridge – 89.1, WOUH, Chillicothe – 91.9, WOUZ, Zanesville – 90.1, and WOUL, Ironton – 89.1) and WOUB TV on 20.1.

“We have been airing the daily news conference on our FM network, but now we will also air it on our primary television channel,” said WOUB General Manager Mark Brewer. “While we understand this will be a daily interruption to our PBS Kids programming and regret that inconvenience, we also know that in this crisis the information coming from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is very important. People in our coverage area need to have access to that information as it becomes available so they can make decisions for their families during this unprecedented time.”

You can listen to each press conference live on the WOUB Public Radio network or online at woub.org/listen/.

You can also watch on WOUB 20.1, the Ohio Channel or online at ohiochannel.org.

In addition, following the guidance of Governor DeWine, PBS leadership and Ohio University President Duane Nellis, most WOUB employees are working remotely.

“WOUB has put systems in place to be able to operate remotely in preparation for a time such as this,” said Brewer. “We will continue to provide news and information our communities rely on via radio, television and online. As a trusted public media resource in Southeastern Ohio, Western West Virginia and Northern Kentucky, WOUB understands the important role we play for our viewers and listeners to provide critical and accurate information, and our commitment to that is stronger than ever.”
