DeWine Appoints Judge to Vinton Co. Court of Common Pleas, General Division
< < Back to dewine-appoints-judge-to-vinton-co-court-of-common-pleas-general-divisionMcARTHUR, Ohio (WOUB) — Governor Mike DeWine has appointed a judge to serve on the Vinton County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.
DeWine named James P. Salyer to the position on Monday, according to a release from the governor.
Salyer, of McArthur, will begin on April 26, and must run for election on November 3 to finish the remainder of the term that ends December 31, 2022.
The positions was vacated by Judge Jeffery Simmons who retired from the Vinton County Court of Common Pleas, General Division on February 29.
Salyer currently is a judge in the Vinton County Court. He also is a private practice attorney and has served as Special Counsel to the Attorney General of the State of Ohio and legal counsel for the Village of McArthur.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.
Salyer is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Ohio Municipal/County Judges Association.
He was a Captain in the United States Army Reserve, serving from 1995-2001.
