John Prine passed away Tuesday, April 7 at the age of 73 in Nashville of complications from COVID-19.

Following his death, social media filled up with everyone’s favorite John Prine songs, which ranged from the timely and poignant (“When I Get Into Heaven”) to the mainstay classics from Prine’s long career (“Angel From Montgomery,” “Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore”) to deep cuts that are so charming (“Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian”) it makes one wonder if Prine ever recorded a subpar tune.

This great diversity in song selections was striking, and motivated WOUB Culture to create a playlist with the wide range of John Prine tunes that are held so dear by so many. Put it on shuffle and enjoy one of America’s greatest songwriters.
