Like most everything else, Radio Free Athens has been impacted by the current situation pertaining to COVID-19, which the World Health Organization has deemed a pandemic. Although you won’t get to hear your favorite DJs on the air for a while, we will be supplying faithful listeners with playlists in the meantime. Find them below!

Radio Free Athens

From Michael T.

No Longer Rare

20 or less years ago (depending where you live), before the age of touchscreen access to billions of songs, one needed to seek out that rare recording. This often involved risk; going to clandestine locations called “record stores”, or meeting in dark alleys with sketchy, almost-human “collectors”. This week’s isolation list consists of songs that were only rumored to exist, because they were not included on an artist’s own official releases, were B-sides of singles, or long-since deleted/out-of-print titles. Tunes sought after high and low, literally for years, now at your fingertips: Please enjoy, and thanks for listening.

From R@T

For this week I went for a mixture of Pandemic inspired songs, some that were hopeful now that spring actually seems to be here, and some just strait up good stuff. Not to mention the strangeness, and perhaps absurdity, of The Hoff. Yes that is him covering The Modern English. Hopefully things will be successfully opened up soon and it won’t lead to a resurgence of the virus and take us a giant step backwards. We are all eager to get back on the air. In the meantime thanks for keeping up with our play lists.
