ALBANY, Ohio (WOUB) — Another event in southeast Ohio has been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers announced Tuesday that the 22nd Ohio Pawpaw Festival will not happen this year.

A social media post cited health concerns for guests, staff and others who would attend the event held at Lake Snowden in Albany.

Plans for a virtual event are in the works, according to the post.

The Pawpaw Festival is a celebration of the pawpaw fruit, one of the country’s largest native tree fruits. It’s also an educational event surrounding environmental issues and sustainability.
