Scioto Co. Commissioner Dies After COVID-19 Hospitalization

A post on the commission’s Facebook page confirmed the news about the 71-year-old on Wednesday.
“It is with a broken heart and profound regret that we announce the passing of our dear friend Scioto County Commissioner Mike Crabtree” the post read. “We ask that you please pray for Dianna his wife and their entire family. We will miss our friend.”
The commission announced Crabtree’s COVID-19 diagnosis and hospitalization Saturday on social media. The post indicated Crabtree’s critical condition and said he was “in need of a miracle from God.”
On Tuesday during his press briefing, Gov. Mike DeWine asked Ohioans to pray for the Scioto County Commissioner.
U.S. Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) offered his condolences on Twitter after learning of the news Wednesday.
Jane and I are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our good friend Mike Crabtree. He will be remembered as a hard worker who always fought for the people of Scioto County.

Crabtree served nearly two decades as a Scioto County Commissioner.
As of 2p.m. on Wednesday, Scioto County had 2,301 total COID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic with 188 hospitalizations and 22 deaths.
