It looked as though the Chieftains were going to become victorious until the Cavaliers brought back the explosive energy in the second half.
Midway through the first quarter, running back Chucky Thomas puts the Cavaliers on top with a 2-yard rushing touchdown. While both teams were unable to make any scores with the remaining time of the first quarter, the Chieftains wasted no time catching up in the second quarter.
Running back Traten Poling scored an 8-yard touchdown with 10 minutes left on the clock. Three minutes later the chieftains scored another touchdown from Brayden Sturgell who ran 51 yards after a two point conversion pass to Poling. This puts the Chieftains in the lead with a score of 15-7. Chillicothe however kept them on their toes and did not leave the second quarter unanswered. With two minutes left on the clock quarterback Mason Doughty makes a strong pass to running back Xzavier Doss who rushes 25 yards up the sideline to tie the score at 15.
That was the score at halftime, and both defenses came alive in the second half. The teams gave each other a run for their money in back to back plays of the third quarter as neither teams were able to put points up on the board. The intensity grew going into the fourth quarter given this game became a close call for both. With ten minutes left on the board, Doughty made a complete pass to Xzavier Doss for a 25-yard touchdown after a two point conversion pass from Doughty to Isaac McCory.
The Chieftains scored the final points of the game with Sturgell making a complete pass to wide receiver Kaiden Patton scoring a 71-yard touchdown. An attempted two point conversion pass from Sturgell to Talon Thompson was no good. That made the score 23-21 Chillicothe and that was the final score of the game.
Logan is still looking for their first victory of the season. The Chillicothe Cavaliers leave the field celebrating another victory as they are now (2-2) and must prepare for their match next week against the Miami Trace Panthers to open up conference play.
