On the opening drive, Vinton County quarterback Braylon Dameron took off on a QB draw managing to weave his way through the Warrior defense for a 32-yard rushing touchdown.
The PAT was blocked by the Warriors, so the Vikings lead 6-0. The Viking drove the length of the field with ease, and it looked to be the beginning of a long night for the Warriors.
Halfway through the second quarter the Warriors finally answered back, and it was in the form of running back Jason Williams
Jason took the handoff from fellow sophomore Trent Taylor and worked his way into the endzone for an 11-yard touchdown run. They completed the PAT giving them a one-point lead, the score being 7-6, and that lead would be taken into halftime.
In crunch time for the Warriors, they gave it to the workhorse Jason Williams over and over chewing clock, but Williams was still hungry for more touchdowns. He took the handoff from Taylor and drug multiple Viking defenders along the way diving into the endzone for a 33- yard rushing touchdown to give Warren a 21-12 lead late in the game.
Williams would add one more touchdown after the Warrior defense forced a turnover on downs to make the score and final 28-12 Warriors over the Vikings.
Williams finished with 26 carries for 261 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. He averaged 10 yards per carry on the night making his touches extremely efficient. Notable for Vinton County, Zayne Karr had 22 carries for 139 yards and 1 touchdown.
Warren (3-4) will look to keep the ball rolling as they play host to Cambridge (4-2) October 8th, as Vinton County (4-2) will look to regain confidence and bounce back at home against River Valley (1-3)
