GRANVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — The highly anticipated Licking County League matchup between the Granville Blue Aces (6-0) and the Zanesville Blue Devils (4-2) took place Friday night at Walter J. Hodges Stadium. It was Homecoming for the Aces, and they took advantage of playing in front of their hyped-up home crowd.

Granville came out the gate on fire, as their star quarterback Carsyn Crouch showed why he is in the running for the Gridiron Glory Player of the Year. Crouch ripped off a 66-yard touchdown run that gave the Blue Aces an early 8-0 lead.

The Granville defense came to play too, as they forced a fumble on the ensuing Zanesville drive. Granville’s defense forced three total turnovers on the evening, while also keeping Zanesville’s leading rusher, Jordan Martin, out of the end zone.

After another Granville score, Zanesville finally got things cooking on their next offensive drive. A 50-yard gain from quarterback Isaac Mayle to Brody Goldsmith set the Blue Devils up for a touchdown run from Goldsmith two plays later.

Granville took the game over from this point, scoring two more times before the end of the half. The Blue Aces would lead 29-7 at the break, riding this advantage to a commanding 35-13 victory.
