This game featured back and forth action and both teams battled it out for Southern Ohio Conference dominance.
Portsmouth Notre Dame started the game off with a great drive, marching all the way down the field. However, the Symmes Valley defense came to play, as Grayson Walsh intercepted a pass and took it all the way to the house for a pick six.
Turnovers were a big factor toward the outcome of the game, with both teams combining for more than five total turnovers on the evening. One of these turnovers came from the Vikings on their next drive, as Portsmouth Notre Dame forced and recovered a fumble.
After a fake punt that led to a Notre Dame touchdown and an impressive 80-yard punt return touchdown from Nolan Heiland, the Titans took an early lead going into the second quarter.
This lead would not last long, as Symmes Valley running back Levi Niece rushed his way into the endzone three times in the second quarter to give the Vikings the 27-21 lead entering the half.
The second half was less of an offensive spectacle, as both defenses flexed their might. Eventually, Portsmouth Notre Dame had a chance to tie the game with under five minutes left, but they stalled out and turned the ball over on downs.
This sealed the fate for the Titans, as Symmes Valley ran out the clock and came away with a 34-28 victory. The Symmes Valley Vikings continue their dream season and improve to 8-0. They will take on Northwest next weekend for the Southern Ohio Conference title. Portsmouth Notre Dame will fall to 6-2 on the season, with their playoff hopes now in serious doubt. They will travel to take on East next weekend.
