32 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Athens County for Nov. 27-29
< < Back to 32-new-covid-19-cases-were-reported-in-athens-county-for-nov-27-29ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 8,273 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 32 new cases were reported for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed the numbers on Nov. 29, 2021.
According to ODH data, the cases involved eight people 0-19, six people 20-29, six people 40-49, five people 30-39, three people 50-59, three people 60-69 and one person 80+.
Two additional cases required hospitalization involving a person in their 20s and a person 80 or older. According to the data, 292 people in Athens County have been hospitalized due to complications related to this coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
There are 237 known active cases in the county as of Monday and 7,940 recovered cases, according to ODH.
A total of 50.57% of the county has started the vaccination process and 46.49% has completed it, according to ODH. There have also been 8,247 additional doses administered.
Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.
Monday at 2 p.m., the Ohio Department of Health announced 1,683,472 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 statewide after 5,731 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. There have been 85,992 hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic.
ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
