Briana Orsborne led the way offensively for Trimble with 19 points, shooting 5-15 from the floor, and 2-5 from three-point land.
“I thought I started off slow. I missed the first couple of shots that I took, but I knew that I needed to get in a rhythm,” Orsborne said of her performance. “I knew I just had to get on my game and get my teammates involved.”
After beating Belpre 53-21 nearly a month and a half ago, the slow start was something that Trimble head coach Joe Richards was disappointed in.
“I tried telling our team the last couple days in practice that they were going be a lot better than they were when we played them [in December]. They played harder than us, end of story,” said Richards. “We need to come out ready to play.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Tomcats though. Richards credited Orsborne and Jayne Six, who finished the night with 17 points, with leading the team down the stretch.
“I thought Briana and Jayne carried us in the second half when we needed it,” he said. “I think Belpre had it down to 6 or seven a couple times, and 44 made some big buckets and 15 made some big buckets, so that helped us along a little bit.”
The Tomcats will look to improve and continue their winning ways when they travel to Southern to take on the Tornadoes on Thursday.
