Alexander extends win-streak at the start of a tough stretch of TVC-Ohio matchups

The final score being 49-34 proves the Alexander Spartans deserve to sit atop the Tri-Valley Conference.
They started off the first quarter holding the Bulldogs to only one basket while picking up six points of their own.
The Bulldogs came alive in the beginning of the second quarter, picking up seven points while holding the Spartans offense. The Spartans were able to battle through the rest of the quarter and stay on top by more than 11 points.
Bailey Davis from Athens opened up after the half with a three-pointer, but Marlee Grinstead responded with her own basket.
Grinstead and Kara Meeks begin to come alive as they find chemistry on the court. The senior duo was able to push Spartan’s way ahead in the third quarter 43-27.
The final quarter the Spartans take their foot off the gas as they burn the clock before bringing home yet another conference win. Grinstead brought it home with 23 points and Meeks chipped in 16.
Spartans head coach, Jeff Grinstead, said despite the win they are still working on minimizing mistakes.
Looking ahead the Alexander Spartans are set to take on another conference rival, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes on Monday, January 24th . The Athens Bulldogs are scheduled to take on the Warren Warriors on Saturday, January 22nd .
