Four COVID-related deaths have been reported in Athens County, along with 59 new cases for Feb. 11
< < Back to four-covid-related-deaths-have-been-reported-in-athens-county-along-with-59-new-cases-for-feb-11ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Athens County has now had 116 total deaths related to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after four were added to the total Friday. The county also has now had 13,920 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic after 59 new cases were added the same day.
The Ohio Department of Health confirmed the numbers on Feb. 11, 2022.
Analysis of ODH data indicates the deaths involved three people in their 60s and a person 80 or older.
According to ODH data, the cases involved 26 people 20-29, 12 people 0-19, six people 40-49, five people 30-39, five people 50-59 and five people 60-69.
There are 1,261 known active cases in the county as of Friday and 12,543 recovered cases, according to ODH.
A total of 52.95% of the county has started the vaccination process and 49.35% has completed it, according to ODH. There have also been 16,619 additional doses administered.
Anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms is asked to call their primary care physician, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving for care to let them know that they believe they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 virus.
ODH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
