Trimble secures a share of the TVC-Hocking with win over South Gallia
< < Back to trimble-secures-a-share-of-the-tvc-hocking-with-win-over-south-galliaCROWN CITY, Ohio (WOUB) — The Trimble Lady Tomcats took on the South Gallia Lady Rebels in a battle to clinch their spot as a shareholder of the TVC-Hocking title. With a win the Tomcats would share the TVC-Hocking title with the Waterford Wildcats.
This was sloppy game from both teams as they could not find rhythms early on which led to a score of 12-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Tomcats were plagued with turnovers again in the second quarter giving the ball up six total times in eight minutes of play. South Gallia capitalized off the turnovers going on a 7-0 run to end the second, giving them the lead heading into the locker room 28-24. Overall, the Rebels outscored the Tomcats 20-12.
After halftime, Trimble was able to find success scoring, behind two huge threes from freshman Jaylee Orsborne as well as a seven-point quarter from Senior Point Guard Laikyn Imler and five points from Senior Center Jayne Six. The Tomcats were able to outscore the Rebels this quarter 20-13 retaking the lead heading into the fourth 44-41.
The Tomcats never gave up their lead in the fourth quarter. Behind a 7-point quarter from Senior guard Brianna Orsborne Trimble came away with the victory with a score of 56-49. Jayne Six lead the Tomcats in scoring with 17 points and Jaylee Orsborne chipped in 13 points on the night as well.
Jessie Rutt led the Rebels in scoring with 13 points as well as scoring her 1,000th point of her career in the third quarter on a tough and-1 bucket. Maice Sanders and Emma Clary each had 11 points for South Gallia in the loss.
Trimble’s next game is their sectional semifinal against Racine Southern on Wednesday, February 16th in Glouster. They will look to ride the momentum of this win into the tournament in order to begin a deep run.
