Vinton County’s postseason run ended by six seeded Sheridan
< < Back toTHORNVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — The #11 seeded Vinton County Vikings traveled to Thornville to take on #6 seeded Sheridan Generals. The gym was packed for this Sectional Final matchup and the Sheridan Red Rage came out swinging.
The Generals hit their stride early, but Vinton County worked some defensive magic. The game went back and forth for the first few minutes, but Sheridan began to heat up behind the arch, banging threes all over the court.
Senior Kaelan Pulliam found the bottom of the net multiple times in the first half, while his fellow senior Reed Coconis dished out some great passes to his teammates. The Generals found their mark heading into the half up 39-17, shooting 75% behind the arch during that time.
Sheridan slowed down their pace in the second half but maintained their large margin over the Vikings. The first half explosion from the Generals was enough to get the job done, as they pulled out the victory over Vinton County, 65-37.
Sheridan was led by Pulliam, who dropped 24 points and picked up seven boards. Coconis also contributed 15 points, while dishing out seven assists on the night. The Generals will continue their season, playing #3 seeded Gallia Academy in the District Semifinal at Southeastern High School next weekend.
The Vikings were led by senior Zayne Karr, who had 12 points on the evening. Vinton County’s playoff hopes come to an end, but they will look to grab a share of the TVC-Ohio title against River Valley next week.
