Belarussian new wave trio Molchat Doma performed at A&R Music Bar (391 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH) on May 2, 2022. The long awaited New Wave Sadness tour marks the band’s first in the US, originally planned for 2020 but canceled due to lockdowns. After signing with indie label Sacred Bones Records, re-releasing two albums in the US, blowing up on TikTok, and releasing their latest record, “Monument,” the Columbus show unsurprisingly sold out months ago. Local spooky-types gathered for a fantastic set stacked with brooding but danceable bops.

DJ Scoppa opened the show with an all-vinyl set, spinning auspicious goth vibes with deep cuts like “Wild in Blue” from Suicide’s 1988 record, “A Way of Life.”
