Trimble finds first win of the season in a battle against Southern

Trimble hit the ground running with a 20 yard rush from Quarterback Brandon Burtette would line the Tomcats up on the 2 yard line. A QB Sneak play from Burtette would put the Tomcats up 6-to-0 after an incomplete 2 point conversion.
Kick Returner Colton Thomas returns the ball 35 yards and would line the Tornadoes up in the Tomcats territory. Sparks fly as the quarter would run down. Southern’s own Josiah Smith would pass to Derek Griffith for 10 yards, after the play a shoving match between Griffith and multiple Trimble and Southern players.
Early in the second Smith would once again connect with Griffith and land the 36 yard touchdown pass, Griffith would kick the PAT Good and the Tornadoes take the lead 7-to-6.
On a Tornadoes 3rd and 3, Trimble Defensive Back Max Frank would haul in a long interception. Southern was flagged for a face-mask penalty on the return, setting the Tomcats up on the Tornadoes 30 yard line.
A Fourth down fumble by Trimble would be recovered by Trimble as time runs down in the first half. Halftime score would remain at 7-to-6.
The 3rd Quarter would see penalty flags left and right as both the Tomcats and the Tornadoes began to turn scrappy.
The Tornadoes would strike first in the second half as two big gains would line Southern Running Back Kolten Thomas up for the 8 yard Touchdown run, Josiah Smith would take it himself for the 2-point conversion. Tornadoes lead 15-6.
With roughly 3 and a half minutes in the 3rd a limping Brandon Burtette would take it himself for the touchdown and connect to Chase Patton on the conversion. Making the score 15-to-14 Southern.
Under a minute left in the quarter and Trimble’s Max Frank would be called short on the 4th down play, The original call would be in contention for roughly twenty minutes, roaring chants from Trimble and Southern would echo the stadium as the officials brought out the rule book and discuss the call, this would eventually be called a turnover on downs by Trimble.
Southern would profit from the call in the fourth quarter as the Tomcats would be called for Pass Interference. Josiah Smith would take the ball on the five yard line and punch it in, PAT good and the Southern Tornadoes would take the lead 22-14.
Moments later on the kickoff Trimble’s Max Frank would take it to the house on an 80-yard touchdown run, another failed 2-point conversion and the Tomcats would tail the Tornadoes 22-20.
With 6 minutes left in the fourth Frank would find the end zone again as he takes it 15 yards down the field. Burtette would sling the 2-point conversion back to Frank and the Tomcats would take a 22-28 lead over Southern.
Southern would turn over the ball and the Tomcats would run the clock down for the end of the game, running out the clock, taking a delay of a game, and taking the knee in Victory Formation as the Trimble Tomcats would take their first win of the season, 28-22 over the Southern Tornadoes.
