NELSONVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — Weedghost brought a hypnotic no-fi set to their Sycamore Session during the 2022 Nelsonville Music Festival.

Weedghost is comprised of two members: Kris Poland on synthesizer and Andrew Lampela on guitar. A crocheted ghost joined as a sort of third member for the duration of their set.

The duo has a history of performing at Nelsonville. In a 2019 interview with WOUB, Lampela remarked that Weedghost had been part of the past 12 Nelsonville Music Festivals.

In their 2022 set, they played a singular improvisational piece which they titled “Untitled Number One” upon finishing their set. Throughout the set, their sound flowed organically, becoming one with the sounds of nature.

Weedghost took no breaks during their set, maintaining an ambient, gentle energy throughout. The greatest point of contrast happened about eighteen minutes into their performance, going from a grand, sweeping presentation to an eerie section that quickly incorporated noise that could be likened to purposeful studio feedback. At around the 23 minute mark, they transitioned back to a lighter-feeling section to finish the set.

Along with their performance, the warm sunlight peeking through the trees crafted a calming environment.
