Virtual attendees will receive workshop materials and books in the mail after workshop completion. In-person participants will have the opportunity to network with other providers, create materials for your program, and receive books and other materials to support the topics from the workshop. Participants who attend three of WOUB’s sessions will be entered into a drawing for one of 10 Kindle Fire Tablets preloaded with PBS Kids games and apps.

PBS NewsHour Classroom (formerly NewsHour Extra) helps teachers and students identify the who, what, when, where, and why-it-matters of news stories. In partnership with PBS LearningMedia, PBS NewsHour Classroom brings you Daily News Lessons which takes the best of the PBS NewsHour and pairs it with discussion questions, lesson plans, and stories developed specifically for students.

These lesson plans and resources help achieve state and national standards’ goals and cover core academic subject areas ranging from civics and social studies to STEM and the arts, always with a media literacy focus.

Our first set of boxes are out and being used by after school programs all over the region. In our first round students learned about creatures and STEM with great hands on activities. Our next sets are due any day now. If you would like to receive training and sets of materials contact us so we can begin to get the next round distributed.
