Albany, Ohio (WOUB) – After a tough loss to the Athens Bulldogs, the Alexander Spartans looked to bounce back against the Trimble Tomcats on Saturday, winning the game 54-42.

From the opening tip-off, all eyes were on Kyler D’Augustino, who was on the brink of hitting 2,000 career points scored. It appeared that the game was going to go sideways for Alexander, as they started off the game with low energy. The game quickly got out of their hands, with the Tomcats moving the ball up and down the court with ease, with Trimble being up 14-9 after one quarter.

Trimble’s defense held D’Augustino in check, holding him to 6 points in the first half, and leading 31-19 heading into the locker room.

Halftime adjustments seemed to be all Alexander needed to reset themselves. They came out fast and quickly made history, with D’Augustino achieving his goal of 2,000 career points to kick off the new half. He helped set the tone for the Spartans to get their momentum going.

With the Spartans rolling into the fourth quarter, the Tomcats lost their footing and could not keep up. Trimble got outscored 18-5 and struggled to get the ball into their possession and capitalize on their lead. The might of Alexander became too much for the Tomcats, with the Spartans getting a come from behind victory, 54-42.
