Reedsville Eastern takes down Eastern Pike in first round playoff game

REEDSVILLE, OHIO (WOUB) — For the first time in school history, the Eastern Eagles out of Reedsville hosted a sectional final. It’s not just the girls’ first home playoff game, but the first between both boys and girls. Fittingly enough, they took on their fellow Eastern Eagles out of Pike County. Pike has won only 1 game all season, so Reedsville felt confident coming into this one, and it ended up being for good reason. Reedsville ended up taking it in convincing manner, 62-25.
Reedsville came out the gates fast, taking a 9-0 lead before Pike was finally able to get on the board with a Cylie Weaver and one. Leading the way in this early spurt and the whole game was star senior Sydney Reynolds. She opened with a couple of quick buckets and a few trips to the line, ultimately leading to a 17-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
It was not just Reynolds getting the job done for Reedsville. Though, it was the trio of her, as well as the cousin duo of Juli and Erica Durst. Juli had 16 points, going 7/15 from the field, sinking 2 shots from deep. Erica also had a solid night herself, finishing with 8 points after a 4/7 shooting mark.
Reedsville took a double-digit lead into the half and did not slow down. When it was all said and done, Sydney, Juli, and Erica combined for 51 of the 62 total team points and will look to keep the hot shooting going as they take on Paint Valley in the next round.
