Photo Gallery: Ohio University Pays Tribute to D-Day War Correspondents

Ohio University held a special event to honor the war correspondents who covered the historic D-Day invasion and World War II.

Hosted by the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and Ohio University Libraries’ Vernon R. Alden Library, the event paid tribute to three remarkable journalists: John R. Wilhelm, former director of the E.W. Scripps journalism school and communication college dean; Cornelius Ryan, an acclaimed author whose books inspired blockbuster films; and Ernie Pyle, a correspondent for Scripps-Howard Newspapers.

The event, which took place at Normandy Park on Richland Avenue near the Ohio University Inn, included a rededication ceremony and unveiling of the refurbished Cornelius Ryan Room at the library. This occasion highlighted the significant contributions of these journalists, who played a vital role in documenting the triumphs and tragedies during World War II.
