McClain falls to Paint Valley 29-15 in a defensive battle

BAINBRIDGE, Ohio (WOUB) — Paint Valley goes on to defeat McClain 29-15 after a slow first half.  

McClain wastes no time as they get things started with a big kickoff return, putting them into Paint Valley territory. 

Quarterback Drew Stapleton ran it in for a 12-yard touchdown, putting the Tigers up 7-0 early in the first. 

On the next drive, Paint Valley responded with a huge catch from wide receiver Bryson Dunham. The Bearcats tied it up 7-7.  

Ending the first quarter, quarterback Prestin Fauber threw an interception caught by Kaden Penwell. Paint Valley’s defense stood tall, not allowing McClain to score.  

Fauber threw another interception to set up the Tigers deep in Paint Valley territory.  

The Bearcat defenses stood tall again as McClain was at Paint Valleys 10-yard line, but the Tigers could not punch it in. The Bearcats second big stop led them into the locker room.  

Heading into the half tied 7-7, Paint Valley started to turn the game around right out of halftime. 

Back-to-back carries from running back Braylon Robertson set the Bearcats up on the two-yard line. Robertson bunches it in and Paint Valley is up 14-7. 

McClain tried to respond, but the Bearcat defense produced a huge turnover late in the third quarter.  

The Bearcats took control of the second half as Fauber took it 53-yards to the house. Paint Valley went up 21-7. 

McClain fought their way back on fourth and goal, Stapleton threw an interception that is then stripped away for a touchdown. The Tigers went for two and were successful. McClain trailed 21-15.  

The Bearcats looked to capitalize on the win when Fauber ran it in for the sneak. Then he does it again for the two-point conversion.
