STEWART, Ohio (WOUB)-  Last season, Federal Hocking couldn’t field enough players to have a football program. This year, the Lancers ride again, and with only twenty-two players. They came into this game looking to win on Homecoming against Parkersburg Catholic. Their Homecoming game was the last of the season for the Lancers, and they were licking their lips to get a massive win to end the season. Like the Lancers, Parkersburg Catholic had a smaller roster, with only sixteen players. When two short-handed teams come to battle it out on a rainy, muddy Friday night, things are due to be entertaining.

The Crusaders had some big gains to start the game, but after a blown-up trick play, they fumbled the ball, and it only took the Lancers a couple of plays to answer back with a score. Federal Hocking running back Ty Walker ran in the ball for the Lancers on a breakaway run and would finish the game with four rushing touchdowns. Walker was the star of the Federal Hocking offense tonight, and he ran all over the field, literally. Walker had multiple runs on the night where he would cut back and change fields to find open space.

Parkersburg Catholic fell victim to the rainy weather and had three other fumbles in the first half. The Lancers capitalized on each fumble and scored on three straight offensive possessions in the first quarter. Federal Hocking continued to run the ball all over the field, and Parkersburg Catholic could not bring any runner down. The Lancers tacked on points throughout the first half, and slowed down the tempo of their offense to run the clock in the second half. Parkersburg Catholic struggled to net offensive yards and could not capitalize on Federal Hocking’s multiple false starts and delay of game penalties. The Crusader’s offense had no cohesion, and their defense could not find a way to stall the Lancers. Federal Hocking scored one final time in the fourth quarter, and would go on to beat Parkersburg Catholic 34 to 0.

The Lancers got their third win of the season with their victory over the Crusaders. They enjoyed the Homecoming win, the win that is also the last game of their season. After not having a team to grace the field last season, Federal Hocking ends the season on a high note and can celebrate after bringing football back to Stewart, Ohio.
