THORNVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) – The Sheridan Generals decimated the Gallia Academy Blue Devils in on Friday night.

Sheridan (10-1) and Gallia Academy (9-2) were walking into this match-up on a two-game win streak, and both teams were looking to continue their playoff journey. However, only one team would be able to continue.

The first quarter opened with the ball in the Generals’ hands, and they found it quite easy to silence the Blue Devils’ defense. Thanks to a 10-yard pass from quarterback Caden Sheridan to wide receiver AJ Winders, the Generals were able to set the score at 7-0 halfway through the first quarter.

The Blue Devils took the ball back over but struggled to fight their way past Sheridan’s feisty defense. Gallia Academy quickly found themselves saddled with their first penalty, which made it difficult for their offense to make any advances. It was not long before the Generals forced a turnover, securing the ball for themselves once again.

Sheridan’s aggressive run game proved to be one of their biggest assets against Gallia Academy. With two minutes left in the first quarter, running back Justin Munyan took it to the house for a 30-yard touchdown, giving the Generals a lead of 14-0 over the Blue Devils.

Gallia Academy took the ball back over, but could not make any advances for themselves, ultimately folding under Sheridan’s defense. With less than a minute left in the first quarter, quarterback Bray Rathburn’s pass was picked off by AJ Winders, planting the ball back safely in Sheridan’s hands.

Early in the second quarter, Caden Sheridan took off on a footrace toward the end zone, finding nothing but green grass and seven more points for the Generals. However, Sheridan decided that they were not done yet.

Halfway through the second quarter, linebacker Ryan Kuhn intercepted one of Bray Rathburn’s passes, snatching the ball back for the Generals. Not long after, wide receiver Bryson Ruff found the end zone from 25 yards out, firmly setting the score at 28-0 with seven minutes left in the second quarter. Gallia Academy found themselves struggling against several penalties, which proved to be detrimental to their progress in the first half.

With less than a minute left on the game clock, Justin Munyan put up more points for the Generals, setting the score at 35-0 going into the locker room. Sheridan would ultimately overtake the Blue Devils, with a final score of 42-0.
