NEW MARSHFIELD, Ohio (WOUB) – WOUB filmed the Shaun Booker Dammit Band performing three originals at Uncle Buck’s Riding Stable and Dance Barn in October.

About the Shaun Booker Dammit Band: 

  • The group won the 2023 Columbus Blues Challenge.
  • Although the band is based out of Columbus, OH, they’ve toured internationally, especially throughout Europe and South America.
  • Shaun’s first release was 1998’s Upstairs Downstairs.
  • YOLO was written when the band was touring Finland.
  • Shaun says her “dream” musical collaborator would be the “velvet-voiced” Luther Vandross: “Listening to him taught me how to really take the reins on my voice.”
  • Shaun was born in Youngstown, OH. She says she started to feel “connected” to Ohio the first time she performed at the Hotel Lafayette in Marietta: “These river towns brought many of my people to freedom.”
  • When it comes to writing music, Shaun says she likes to start with the bass, and stack other instruments on top to create a cohesive song.
