WOUB Learning Lab is partnering with the Stevens Literacy Center to offer a Family and Community Learning Workshop (FCL) using the literacy skills resources from the PBS KIDS series, MOLLY OF DENALI ™. An FCL is a series of workshops that engage families in active, hands-on learning experiences. This MOLLY OF DENALI ™ FCL is designed for families with kids ages 5-8. The workshops use creative play and exploration to introduce kids and grown-ups to digital and tangible tools that can be used to develop knowledge, practices and perspectives. The learning focus for this workshop series is literacy and informational text—text with a primary purpose to convey information. This series will run for six consecutive weeks with a “Take Home Learning Activity” in place of an in person session for the week of Spring Break (March 11).

New Virtual Field Trip

Toledo Museum of Art

Join us for a virtual field trip to the Toledo Museum of Art as we explore a wide variety of visual art–from ancient mummy coffins to enormous sculptures–during a visit to “The Glass City.” Virtual field trips are presented as part of Ohio Learns 360 and funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

PBS Learning Media Collection

By Parties Unknown is a documentary that unravels the events surrounding the violent lynching of four Black men in Russellville, Kentucky, in 1908.

In the lessons from PBS Learning Media students can view clips from the film intended to guide students through the events leading up to, and following, the lynching of John Boyer, Joe Riley, John Jones and Virgil Jones, as well as the cultural atmosphere that embraced the spectacle of mob violence.
