From Excursions: Jazz Motifs w/ Dr. Art Cromwell
Excursions continues its presentation of three recently released and previously unheard recordings. Our new journey celebrates two birthdays: Sun Ra May 22, 1914, Birmingham AL, and Marshall Allen, May 25 1925 Louisville KY. We commemorate Marshall’s 100 birthday! And also recognize his current leadership of Sun Ra’s ensemble, the culmination of his nearly 70 year membership in the Arkestra.
In addition we continue our presentation of two accompanying releases: Mal Waldron/Steve Lacy, and Yusef Lateef.
