Doc Watson was widely regarded as the country’s finest flat-picking guitarist and preeminent folk artist during his lifetime.
In this Ramblin’ program, Doc is joined by his son Merle on slide guitar and banjo. Their performance is a showcase of native folk traditions and a display of distinctive stylistic inventions.
The Watson’s repertoire encompasses country ballads, bluegrass, gospel and urban blues including “Sadie,””Frosty Morn,””Don’t Think Twice,””Summertime, “”Sweet Georgia Brown,” and “Dixie.” Included in this program is a visit with Doc and Merle at home in Deep Gap, North Carolina and in concert in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
By all standards of talent and technique, Doc Watson is a living musical treasury of Americana.
