Ace Nation: Belpre sweeps Trimble in TVC-Hocking matchup
< < Back toBelpre, Ohio (WOUB) — The Belpre Golden Eagles swept the Trimble Tomcats for a TVC-Hocking matchup.
The first set was back and forth, with neither team wanting to let up. Belpre set the tone when outside, Haley Alloway and Alivia Harrington were racking up kills for the Golden Eagles. The Tomcats started to crawl their way back with three back-to-back aces from setter Rilynn Fouts. Ultimately Belpre took the first, 25-20 after multiple errors from Trimble.
Moving along, in the second set Belpre upped their game even more. They were serving up aces from multiple players and were knocking the Tomcats off their feet. Although Belpre was dominating, Trimble’s Libero Alyvia Portier, was giving them a run for their money with her phenomenal defense. Golden Eagle Alloway was back at it again with kills at the end of the set causing the team and crowd to go wild. Belpre takes the second set 25-13.
Set 3 was close but Trimble just could not catch up to Belpre. Golden Eagles, Alloway kept the game alive with her explosive kills. Trimble did not give up; Middle Bailey Tomlin had an electric kill to get her offense fired up, but Belpre did not back down. Harrington had back-to-back kills, leading Trimble to call their final timeout. The Tomcats could never find that spark as Belpre took the final set 25-22.
After losing, Trimble assistant coach Hali Burleson told her team to “keep a positive attitude the whole time” when asked what they could improve on in their next game.
Belpre will look to keep their winning streak going as they face off against Fort Frye on Tuesday. Trimble will travel to Huntington on Saturday for a tri-match with Alexander.
