Philo started with the ball, but an early slip from Aiden Mohan led to a start on the 9-yard line for the Electrics. With bad field position and great defense from the Ceramics, Philo was forced to kick it away.
After a great return, running back Kam Potter drove up the field and through defenders, giving the Ceramics a 7-0 lead early on.
The Electrics seemed to wake up after this, and they were able to put some runs and quick passes together to find the edges. The drive was capped off with a 3-yard keep from quarterback Jack Lincicome to tie the game 7-7.
Crooksville tried to keep the momentum from the first score up, and when faced with a 4 and 2 opportunity, they went for it. Philo maintained tough, however, and stuffed the run for a turnover on downs.
The Electrics were rolling smoothly on the next drive, but a brutal hit brought Lincicome out of the game. Philo rallied together and scored again with a keep from Quarterback Wyatt Tysinger, pushing the electrics up 14-7.
The Ceramics tried to respond, but a resilient Philo defense would contain Crooksville’s offense.
Missing their quarterback, Philo was intent on crashing through the Ceramics, and they would get their way with running back Talon Preston. Preston got loose on three consecutive drives, the last of which he scored on extending the Electrics lead 21-7.
The Ceramics did chunk together some big plays, but it would still be Philo’s defense coming up big and stopping Crooksville.
On the next drive, Jack Lincicome returned, and his presence was immediately felt, throwing darts down the field. They would find themselves deep in the red zone, where Lincicome would get another touchdown on a keep.
The Ceramics would not stop fighting; however, they would block the kick and keep them to just the touchdown. Philo would still end the half with a confident 27-7 lead.
The Electrics would finish strong, winning the game 37-7. This means that Philo has won 8 consecutive games against Crooksville and earned the longest win streak their matchup has ever seen.
The Electrics will continue their road trip against a strong Sheridan team.
Crooksville will stay home, preparing to face West Muskingum.
