Appalachian Literary Arts & Storytelling Festival

Nelsonville, Ohio

Oct. 5th & 6th

The Appalachian Literary Arts and Storytelling festival takes place on the historic square in Nelsonville Ohio. The festival seeks storytellers to balance the narrative about who Appalachians are, what they believe and who they hope to be. The festival features keynote speakers from around Appalachia. WOUB Public Media is proud to sponsor Oscar® and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Elaine McMillion Sheldon’s keynote presentation. Elaine is the producer of King Coal, which was the first film of POV’s Season 37 on PBS, broadcast on WOUB this past June. Elaine will be the featured speaker at the brunch on Sunday, October 6th and the WOUB Learning Lab will share an introduction and some highlights from WOUB’s local project, “Our Ohio: A Documentary Film Festival.”
