Alexander Spartans dominate River Valley Raiders in conference clash

River Valley kicked off the ball to start the game, and on the first play of the game Alexander’s Isaac Waller was handed the ball and weaved his way 62 yards to take it home for 6. Alexander missed the field goal and took an early 6-0 lead.
The Raiders were unable to do anything against the Spartan defense on their first drive, and the Spartans got the ball back. On the Spartans’ second drive, quarterback Alex Bateman put the ball in the air before a shaky catch led to an Alexander fumble at River Valley’s 38-yard line, and the Raiders’ Cordai Craycraft recovered the ball.
River Valley lined up for their next drive, before fumbling the ball and allowing the Spartans to get the ball back at their 20-yard line. Alexander pushed ahead to their 4-yard line and handed the ball off to Isaac Waller again, who punched it in for his second touchdown of the first quarter. The Spartans missed the extra point again, and took the lead 12-0.
This game was a defensive slugfest, with both teams struggling to generate momentum. Alexander was able to capitalize off explosive plays, while River Valley was getting swarmed by Spartans.
The Spartans got the ball back in after yet another River Valley interception. Alexander’s Trent Mash found the ball in his hands and forced his way into the endzone for another 6. The Spartans lined up for two and the two-point conversion was good, Alexander’s up 20-0 going into halftime.
Alexander continued the momentum in the second half, and Isaac Waller recorded four touchdowns. Both River Valley and Alexander’s defenses were shining in this game, with nine total turnovers between both teams. The Spartans won 40-0 after an interception completely halting the Raiders drive.
The Alexander Spartans head to Nelsonville-York to clash with the Buckeyes next week, and the River Valley Raiders host the Vinton County Vikings next week.
