Generals come from behind to defeat Valley
< < Back toWEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WOUB) – Portsmouth West’s Spartan Municipal Stadium hosted a Southern Ohio Conference matchup as Valley traveled down to face the Generals. The Senators would come out on top in this battle, defeating Valley.
The game would start off with the Senators ball. Receiving Valleys kickoff on their own one-yard line. The Senators would try and progress the ball and were able to march the ball downfield. However, a stoppage from Valley would bring up fourth down, forcing Portsmouth West to punt the ball, ending their first drive without a score.
Valley would get the ball with plenty of time to score in the first and managed to score thanks to an 82-yard touchdown run from wide receiver Braxten Conaway.
Portsmouth West would seek a response as they looked to even up the score. The Senators would march down the field, biting at the teeth to score, and would be able to. Brody Hall found Mason Parker for a 21-yard touchdown.
However, Valley would let up their onslaught, as they managed to block the extra point, making the score 6 to 7, at the end of the first.
Valley would start off the second with the ball and the offense would look to expand their lead. The Senators would try and stop pushing down the field causing Valley to call the teams first two timeouts on this drive. First on Portsmouth West’s 34-yard line, and then at the Senators one yard line.
A rush from Valley Quarterback Zach Whitt would put Valley ahead by seven.
Portsmouth would look to dig themselves out of this deficit, however, Valley would manage to stop this effort as the Senators would throw an interception, giving Valley another chance with the ball. Valley wouldn’t let this opportunity slip out of their grip.
The Valley quarterback would scramble for a touchdown. Bender would be good once again, making the score 21 to 6, with Valley extending their lead, to end the half.
The second half would be a completely different game than the first, as the Senators would manage to stop the Valley attack. The final score being 22 to 21, for Portsmouth West.
Portsmouth West will go on the Road to face the Northwest Mohawk. Whilst Valley will try and bounce back against the Oak Hill Oaks.
