NEW CONCORD, Ohio (WOUB)- With the outright MVL-Big title and an undefeated regular season on the line, the Tri-Valley Scotties (10-0) started hot and flew past the John Glenn Little Muskies (4-6).

After a long pair of drives, Tri-Valley struck late in the first quarter. Quarterback Max Lyall passed to Kade Hindel for the first touchdown of the game.

In the second quarter, the pace picked up. Ryan Lamonica picked off an Owen Edwards pass, then turned around and caught a Max Lyall bomb in double coverage to make the score 14-0 Scotties.

John Glenn would force their own turnover on the next Tri-Valley drive. On the first play of the drive, Jayden Wallace fumbled. Ryder Pennington scooped up the loose ball and ran to the end zone to score John Glenn’s only touchdown of the game.

The Scotties did not take long to answer though. After a kickoff return to midfield, the Scotties had a two-play touchdown drive capped by a 27-yard Jayden Wallace rushing touchdown. Wallace ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

The Scotties would eventually get the ball back with 40 seconds left in the half. From this point, Lyall went to work, driving down the field. As the drive looked like it would stall out, the Scotties got tricky. Lyall passed to Hindel, who lateraled the ball to Jayden Wallace in a hook and ladder play. This play got Tri-Valley to the 1-yard line. Wallace scored his second touchdown of the night to end the half 28-7.

The Scotties slowed down in the second half, but they were not done scoring. With less than three minutes left, Lyall dumped the ball to Lamonica, who scored an 11-yard touchdown. Lyall passed for 258 yards and three touchdowns.

As time wound down, Tri-Valley made it to the John Glenn 2-yard line. However, thanks to penalies, the Scotties were forced to settle for a field goal, which forced a running clock to end the game.

John Glenn’s season is over, as they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

With this win, Tri-Valley clinched their fourteenth MVL title and their third undefeated regular season. This season is their first undefeated regular season since 2014. With the win, Tri-Valley also clinches hosting two playoff games. Their first-round matchup has not been determined at the time of writing.
